About me

I was at McKinsey & Company for two decades, for most of that time specialized in automotive topics, from suppliers to OEMs to dealers to the aftermarket and beyond.  I retired from the Firm in 2006 and have been independent ever since, pursuing a range of research projects, investment diligence, Board seats, and more…. but always in the automotive field.  CV here, with contact information.

PROJECTS include two chapters on the history of Ford in books from the international automotive research consortium GERPISA, a report for NADA on the economics of dealership facility “image” programs, a second report for NADA on the future of automotive retailing in the USA, and new work on the future of auto auctions in the USA, for NAAA.

BOARDS I have been on include, in the past, Tinnerman (automotive fasteners), Grakon (heavy duty truck lighting), and Stackpole (automotive oil pumps).  Currently I am on the Board of Rimstock, a UK supplier of high-end alloy wheels.

I have been an ADVISOR to numerous investment firms, notably Greenbriar, Baillie Gifford, and currently Alliance Bernstein; also academic entities (e.g. IMVP), and others (e.g. the Automotive X Prize).

I from time to time give SPEECHES on automotive topics (this one on the impact of technology changes).
